J. Norman McMichael, 87, of Palmyra, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at Londonderry Village. He was the husband of Frances A. (Meyer) McMichael, to whom he was married for 66 years.
Born in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maude (Head) McMichael.
Norm was a 1955 graduate of Hershey High School and was a co-owner of H.L. Meyer Inc. He was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, a former member of the Masonic Lodge #226, Izaak Walton League, and a past president of the Rotary Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed working as a maintenance manager for Cleona Borough, fishing at his cottage at Lake Strauss, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Frances, he is survived by two daughters, Lori, wife of Barry Fisher, of Fredericksburg, and Susan, wife of Alan Graves, of Annville; six grandchildren, Nicole, wife of Eric Smith, Ashley, wife of David Centini, Matthew Graves, and partner, Rachael, Emily McMichael, Hannah McMichael, and Madison McMichael; one great-granddaughter, Lucy Centini; two brothers, William McMichael and Danny McMichael; and one sister, Doris McMichael.
Norm was preceded in death by his son, Scott B. McMichael; four brothers, Lewis, Albert, Malcolm, and Lester McMichael; and seven sisters, Freida Bellamy, Anna Champagne, Edith Adams, Emmalee Currence, Eleanor Geesaman, Wanda Via, and Ruthanne Kriner.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. from Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Inurnment will be private. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of his service at the Church.
