Jack M. Behney, 87, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at home, doing what he loved to do. He was the husband of Alma G. “Sis” (Ritchie) Behney. On Oct. 23, they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.

Born in South Lebanon Township on July 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Miles M. and Helen M. (Gassert) Behney. Jack retired from the Manheim Auto Auction, where he was the manager at the carwash. Following retirement, he also worked at the Hershey Technical Center, a Division of Hershey Foods. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Strickland and the USS Thetis Bay. Jack was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg. He was also a life member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Jonestown American Legion. He enjoyed working on small engines and owned and operated Jack’s Small Engines, repairing lawn mowers for others before his health declined. He loved working on his John Deere and going to the Farm Show. He was especially proud of his PA Dutch heritage and speaking PA Dutch.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennie Lynn Behney, of Fredericksburg; step-daughter, Jackie, wife of Dale Godwin, of Lebanon; brother, William, husband of Susie Eisenhauer, of Auburn; sisters, Louise, wife of Thomas Dissinger, of Holtwood, Helen “Tiny,” wife of David Swoyer, of Port Clinton, and Mary Bachert, of Hamburg; granddaughter, Ashley Godwin; great-grandchildren, Eli Leonhard, Ozzie Hook, Hawke Godwin, and Luxlin Miller; great-great-granddaughter, Francesca Leonhard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Behney; and nephew, Greg Behney.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township.
