Air Force Master Sergeant, James A. Demler, flew to the angels, in the early morning, on July 11th, 2022. He was the son of the late James L. Demler and Elizabeth (Bours) Demler of Lebanon. Jim was the beloved husband of Catherine L. (Moody) Demler of Lebanon. They were married for almost 17 years.
Born in Lebanon, Jim was a 1965 graduate of Lebanon High School and a 20-year retiree from the US Airforce, which included deployments to Libya, Germany, and various US locations.
Jim worked as a Senior Draftsman at SVERDRUP/TEAS, a division of Jacobs, at the Eglin Air Force Base, FL, for over 30 years. Jim was known for his caring nature and great sense of humor. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and always proud of his high score of 298 during his years in a bowling league. He also enjoyed doing puzzles, the harder, the better and had a special bond with his dog, Luna. More than anything, Jim enjoyed spending his days with his beloved wife, Cathy.
He is also survived by his children, Jimmie Demler of Crestview, FL, and Kristin Matthews and husband Robert of Andalusia, AL; step-grandchildren Justin Hall and spouse Kristen and Heather Peffley; step-brothers James Maurer of Lebanon and Thomas Maurer of San Angelo, TX; sister-in-law Verda Smith and husband James; brother-in-law Joseph Moody; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by step-mother Amelia Demler, step-brother Benjamin Maurer, and grandson Jacob Rhett Demler.
Viewing will be on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christman’s Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ebenezer Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, Lebanon, with full military honors, following the service.
