James G. Pyles, Jr., 76, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday September 13, 2024 in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
He was the loving husband of Joanne E. Tittle Pyles with whom he would have celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary in February.
Jim was born in Lebanon, a son of the late James G., Sr. and Catherine Ream Pyles. He served in the U.S Navy for 2 years and retired from the PA Army National Guard with 40 years of service.
Never one to sit still, he had been employed at the Lebanon VA Medical Center for 34 years and the Lebanon office of AAA for 13 years before finishing his career with the Lebanon Area Agency on Aging with 11 years of service.
Jim was a huge Penn State fan who also had played basketball in the Lebanon VA Rec League and volleyball while serving in the Guards. He enjoyed playing golf as well as listening to Beatles music.
Jim and his wife Joanne hosted several exchange students over the years through the Youth for Understanding program.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughter: Melissa S. Pyles; siblings: Rosemary Thierwechter; Nancy wife of Steve Linn; Bonnie wife of Pat Gardner as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042 where a time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be in the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap.
