James H. Connor Sr., 87, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane K. Connor, to whom he was married for 64 years.

Born in Lebanon, PA, on Nov. 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Peter J. Connor Sr. and the late Dorothy May (Royer) Connor.

James graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1953. From a young age, he was active in Boy Scouts, eventually becoming an assistant scoutmaster, earning the Wood Badge Training Award, Order of the Arrow, and Silver Beaver. He was on the Boy Scouts District Leadership Training Committee, served on the Board of Directors, and was Chairman of the Camp Bashore Property and Maintenance Committee for 25 years. James was a Master Baker, employed at Royer’s Cake Box for 45 years. He also worked at Fulton Bank for 10 years. James was active in his community, serving as Club Secretary for the Rotary Club and Chairman for 4-H. He additionally served in public office as a Jury Commissioner for eight years. He also served as the North Cornwall Township Supervisor for six years, on the Township Authority for 17 years, and on the Agricultural Land Preservation Board for seven years. James was a Military Veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, traveling, camping with his family, bird watching, gardening, landscaping, and classical music.

Surviving is his three children, James H. Connor II, of Wyomissing, John P. Connor, of Lebanon, and Megan K. Mathews, of Florida; a brother, Timothy M. Connor, of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Vanessa Langmead, wife of Alexander, and Ashley Mathews; and two great-grandchildren, Connor Langmead and Chloe Langmead.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Mary M. Thompson, Peter J. Connor Jr., Hubert P. Connor, and Robert J. Connor.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
