James Michael “Mike” Morrissey, Jr., 72, passed away at home on Dec. 14, 2021. He was a loyal son to his father, Jim Morrissey.
Mike had a favorite childhood memory of a trip across the country with his two younger brothers, Dave and Dan, and their beloved grandfather, Iren S. Light. He is also survived by their baby sister, Grace. Mike cherished his daughter, Shannon, and son, Jimmy. He was proud of his two grandchildren, James, IV, and Olivia. He was blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mike enjoyed many years with his companion, Cindy Church, and her son, Jedidiah Dykstra.
Mike was a man of many interests and talents, which drew him to numerous clubs and organizations throughout his life. He served as past president of the Sunset Lions, where for many years he helped organize a time for Santa to hand out treats to the children of the community. Mike grew up in the family oil business and retired after running his own company. He was known to help many, and those he encountered in life did not remain a stranger. He was quick to share a smile, a laugh, and often Shuey’s Pretzels.
