James W. Stokes, 86, of Jonestown, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at his home. He was the husband of Laura D. Kyler Stokes. On November the 21st, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Born in Harrisburg on February 24, 1934, he was the son of the late James E. and Martha Richter Stokes. James retired from the Dept. of Justice in the District of Columbia where he was the Supervisor over FBI printing. He was a member of the Perry F & AM Lodge 458 in Marysville for over 50 years where he was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Philadelphia sports and Penn State basketball and football. He also served in the U.S. Army following the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Cindy D. Stokes of Lebanon; brother John and his wife Barbara Stokes of Blain; grandchildren Shannon wife of Dave Veilleux and Austin and his wife Michelle McAleese; and great grandchildren Payton Veilleux and Parker & Merlee McAleese. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah L. Stokes.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. A Masonic service will begin at 9:45 a.m. followed by the viewing until the start of the service. Interment will follow at the Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
