Janet Naomi (nee Handshew) Fogelsanger, 99, went beyond the curtain of time on Sunday, Jan. 12, and is now rejoicing with her Lord Jesus and those who have already gone on before her.
She was born in Shippensburg, PA, on Dec. 9, 1925, the daughter of the late John L. and Katherine E. (Perry) Handshew. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Fogelsanger, who had gone ahead on Jan. 5, 1993.
Janet attended a one-room school in Middle Spring near Shippensburg for eight years and was a 1944 graduate of Shippensburg High School. After graduating high school, she attended Shippensburg State Teachers College for one year. She then worked in the clerical field at Bell Telephone in Harrisburg and several Shippensburg area businesses. She also helped her husband in his business, Fogelsanger’s Auto Service, in Shippensburg and was a homemaker. Janet was also a youth Sunday school teacher for a number of years. After moving to the Annville area, she worked at the Annville-Cleona High School cafeteria, retiring in 1993, after which she substituted where needed in the district. She attended the Christian Fellowship & Missions church in Rexmont, PA, and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In later years, she also enjoyed going on trips with the Annville senior citizens, volunteering at an assisted living home, and giving small tokens of love to those she met. Her beautiful smile was always an inspiration. She was a “people person” and truly lived for others. Janet also enjoyed reading her Bible daily and listening to the tape ministry of William Branham.
She is survived by her son, Edward Fogelsanger (Judy), of Annville; grandsons, David Fogelsanger (Crystal), of Cleona, Timothy Fogelsanger (Cynthia), of Lebanon, and Andrew Fogelsanger (Dawn), of Annville; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Janet was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Elaine Fogelsanger.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville, PA. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Livestreaming will begin at 11 a.m. Those wishing to view can go to www.kreamerfuneralhome.com for the livestreaming event.
