Janice Ensminger, 85, passed away on Jan. 1, 2024, at UPMC Community General Osteopathic Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dora (Reiner) Wert and the widow of Victor Ensminger since 2009. She was born in Muir, PA, but moved with her family to Palmyra as a young girl and lived there until she moved to the Ecumenical Retirement Community just over two years ago.
Janice was a woman of great faith. She was kind and generous and was loved by all. She enjoyed walking and crossword puzzles and spent many hours doing jigsaw puzzles. She had several jobs throughout her life, including the former Palmyra 5 and 10, Palmyra Motel, cleaning for private residences, and retired from Seltzer’s Lebanon Bologna after many years of part-time service. Most importantly, she was a loving wife and mother, always putting her family first. She was a very caring grandmother who spent much quality time with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her children, Lynn Kaley, Alan Ensminger (Erin), and Holly Nornhold (Shaun); grandchildren, Janelle Edris (Tim), Adam Kaley (Kendra), Caitlin Scheer (Damian), Sarah Radic, and Tori Ellis (Dan); and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Wert, John Wert, Jean Morrison, Marjorie Viozzi, and Richard Wert; and stepson, Kenneth Ensminger.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ecumenical Retirement Community for their personal care and compassion shown to their mother during her time there.
