Jeanne R. Wood, a devoted mother of three children, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was 93 years old.

Jeanne was born on June 17, 1927, in Newark, NJ. Jeanne and her first husband, Frank, who predeceased her, moved to Cranford, NJ where they lived for 27 years. Jeanne and her second husband, Alfred Wood, who also predeceased her, lived in Cape May for six years, then moved to Florida in 1995. She then moved to Hershey, PA in 2007.

Jeanne graduated from Irvington High School in Irvington, NJ, and then attended Union College in Cranford, NJ. She was employed by Elizabethtown Gas Company as an administrative assistant for 23 years.

Prior to her move to Hershey, PA where she resided at Country Meadows, she was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niceville, FL where she served as a Deacon for six years. In addition to her service as a Deacon, she was a member of the women’s organization within the church as secretary and XYZ. Jeanne was also a Communion Assistant and Lector. Prior to moving to Niceville, Jeanne served as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford and also at the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church in Cape May, which are both in New Jersey.

At Country Meadows, Jeanne attended Sunday services regularly led by Reverend James Smith. She also attended Bible study there and occasionally served as Lector on Sundays and was chairperson of the Special Trips Committee.

Jeanne enjoyed traveling in Europe and was an active member of many theater groups, the CDC Theater in Cranford, NJ, and Elaine’s Dinner Theater in Cape May. In Niceville, FL she appeared in plays at The Corner Pocket Theatre.

She is survived by her daughter, Dale, wife of Wayne, of Hummelstown, PA, a son, Robert, husband of Rebecca, of Huntsville, AL, and daughter, Karen, wife of Peter, of Tobaccoville, NC. Her sister, Claire and husband Michael predeceased her in 2014.

Dear to Jeanne’s heart are her grandchildren, Robert (Bo) and his wife, Katrina, Douglas (Dougie) and his wife, Christina as well as Meredith, Catherine, Whitney, Vincent and his wife Melanie, and Peter (Petey). Also dear to her are her great-grandchildren, Robert III (Bo), Samuel, Victoria, Isla, and Olivia.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ as well as Cold Springs Presbyterian Cemetery in Cape May, NJ.
