Joan L. Wentzel, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Nov. 2, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on Jan. 6, 1931, to Raymond and Harriet Roof.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter W. Wentzel, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn, Patricia, and Cathy.
Throughout her life, Joan worked as a barmaid at the Fenwick Tavern for 15 years and also dedicated her time to Hill Farms retirement home. She found joy in dancing with her husband, playing bingo, visiting the Hollywood Casino, and most of all, playing Blitz with her family and poker with her sons. Her warm smile and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan is survived by her devoted sons, Michael, husband of Susan, William, husband of Kate, Stephan, husband of Candace, and Joseph, husband of Brenda; adoring grandchildren, Elizabeth Bross, wife of Mike, Jessica Paracca, wife of Corey, Mark Wentzel, husband of Judy, Matthew Wentzel, husband of Melissa, Megan Tilley, Max Wentzel, husband of Alanna, Andrew Wentzel, husband of Courtney, and Lauren Daubert, wife of Ethan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A woman of grace, kindness, and unwavering love, Joan leaves behind a legacy of family values and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, PA 17042. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
