Joan Marie (Parker) Varano, 98, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. Joan was born on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1922, in Shamokin, PA, to the late Matthew and Katherine (Meenahan) Parker. She was the youngest of seven children. She was the wife of Anthony “Tony” A. Varano for over 62 years, until his death on Nov. 9, 2006.

Joan is survived by three children, Patricia (Charles) Sosnoskie, of Shamokin, Theresa (Michael) Davis, of Palmyra, and Gary (Carol) Varano, of Harrisburg, seven grandchildren, 12 (very soon to be 13) great-grandchildren, extended family, and caring friends.

Joan was a strong, faith-filled woman. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Palmyra, since 1972. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered as a source of love and support to all.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the administration and staff at Lebanon Valley Home for the gentle, loving care they provided to Joan during her nine years as a resident.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, 717-838-9211.
