We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joanne L. Hower, 81, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Joanne passed away on Aug. 27, 2024, at her home in Lebanon, PA, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1942, in Lebanon to Joseph H and Sara A. (Heckendorn) Lengle.

Throughout her life, Joanne found solace in her faith, attending services at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bath, PA, and First Commonwealth UCC in Ft. Pierce, FL, during her time there as a snowbird. She had a green thumb and found joy in gardening. She found peace in the pages of her favorite books and coloring. An avid sports fan, Joanne loved watching the Phillies and cheering on Penn State.

Joanne had a kind and caring spirit, always putting others before herself. She will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. Joanne’s memory will be cherished by her devoted husband of 63 years, Glenn Hower; her loving children, Suzanne Kistler (David), Scott Hower (Lynn), and Kristin DeLaney (Bill); and her adored grandchildren, Justin Hower, Alexa Hower, Nate Kistler, and Lucas DeLaney.

A memorial service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Dr., Bath, PA 18014, on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Joanne’s memory to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Dr., Bath, PA 18014.
