John B. Bachman, 97, of Lebanon, entered his heavenly, eternal home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 2nd, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Minnich) Bachman for over 63 years.

Born in Annville on October 22nd, 1924, he was the son of the late Harold B. and Maud K. (Bomberger) Bachman.

He was a graduate of the Annville High School Class of 1943. John was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Annville, where he served on the church council and was the assistant Sunday School Superintendent. John grew up helping on the family farm and working as a butcher for his father’s business. After serving in the US Army as an amphibious vehicle operator, he worked for a few years at Hershey Foods. He spent his career as a machinist for both the US Air Force and US Army for over 30 years and retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events, traveling, and participating in NARFE.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, John M. Bachman, husband of Nancy L. of Lebanon, and two grandchildren: Mark J. Bachman, husband of Elissa of Annville, and Meredith A. Bachman of Rensselaer, New York. John was looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather in 2023 with the arrival of Mark and Elissa’s son. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mildred J. Cialone, Erma P. Snover, Wilbur G. Bachman, Beatrice B. Weidman, and Clyde F. Bachman.

A public visitation will be held from 10 AM-11 AM on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 E. Main Street, Annville, PA 17003. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be held at Mt. Annville Cemetery after the service, and a luncheon at the church will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 E. Main Street, Annville, PA 17003, or to a charity of your choice in his memory.
