John E. Bayler, 90, of Palmyra and formerly of Jonestown, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Londonderry Village. He was the husband of Rita I. (Boeshore) Bayler. On Oct. 15, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Born in Lebanon on May 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Martha A. (Seiger) Bayler. He was a member of the South Lebanon High Class of 1954. Following high school, John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Indiantown Gap, where he served as a Civilian Personnel Officer. He was a former member of St. John’s U.C.C. in Jonestown and a current member of Trinity U.C.C. in Palmyra. John loved caring for his roses around his house. Over the years, he won many international awards at various rose shows. He also enjoyed showing his Simmental Cattle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Russell Boeshore; sisters-in-law, Shirley Fortna and Levan Bayler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Robert L. Baylor; and sister, Anna N. Cress.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
