John F. Sciotti, 77, died on Dec. 3, 2021, at the Reading Hospital.

He is survived by brothers, Tony Sciotti and Phil Sciotti (husband of Lee), of Lebanon; sisters, Ann Donmoyer and Mary Thompson, of Annville, and Liz Cummings (wife of Reggie Cummings), of Womelsdorf; nieces and nephews, Gena Scott, Jon and Eugene Donmoyer, Jason and Laura Thompson, and Anthony Swackhammer; and a great-nephew, Jason Donmoyer (son of Eugene Donmoyer).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Elizabeth (Lance) Sciotti.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He resided for most of his life in Lebanon, and was employed for many years by Lebanon Valley Offset.

John enjoyed spectator sports and was very athletic himself. He played golf, baseball, tennis, darts, and pool. He followed college football, always rooting for Notre Dame, and was a life-long loyal Dodgers fan. He also enjoyed car racing and women’s pro basketball.

Among his other interests were World War II history, cooking, watching the Nature Channel, playing card games and Trivial Pursuit with family members, and listening to music. According to John, there was no better singer than Joan Baez. He loved animals, especially his parakeets, and, more recently, his two cats, Raffy and Taffy.

John will be remembered and greatly missed by his many friends and family members as a devoted son and brother; a kind and very generous man; a genuinely nice person with a clever wit, fun-loving spirit, and deep consideration for the feelings of others.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 12 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, 17042. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. You may share your thoughts and memories with the family at the online guestbook at the funeral home’s website.
