John J. Tyrpin, 96, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. He was the husband of Sarah J. Gebhardt Tyrpin. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on May 26th.

Born in Kenilworth, Chester Co., on December 7, 1926, he was the son of the late John J. and Sophie Kosiak Tyrpin.

John retired from the Carpenters Local 421. Prior to becoming a carpenter, he had been a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Little Swatara Beagle Club and the Fredericksburg American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, John Deeres, country music, and especially playing his harmonica. He also served in the Merchant Marines.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children John H. Tyrpin of Pine Grove, J. Todd (Cathy) Tyrpin of Pine Grove, James E. (Lisa) Tyrpin of Pine Grove, Rebecca J. Martin of Fredericksburg, Mark K. (Linda) Tyrpin of Jonestown and Beth A. (Brian) Ditzler of Fredericksburg; sister Laura Keckley of Audubon; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren John J. Tyrpin, III and Jessica Martin.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
