John L. Cardella, 70, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Wanda M. Houtz Cardella. They celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on September 18th.

Born in Philadelphia on November 21, 1950, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Shillingsburg Cardella. John retired from Fry Communications in Mechanicsburg, where he had been a diesel mechanic. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lebanon. He was a member of the Fredericksburg American Legion and the Lebanon Area Corvette Club. He enjoyed cars, camping, and traveling. He also had served in the Army National Guard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Kathy wife of Steve Leonard, of Mechanicsburg; stepsons David Swartz, of Loysville and Michael husband of Elizabeth Swartz, of McClure; four step-grandchildren; nephew Pat Leonard; niece Carolyn wife of Paul Woodring; and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
