It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John L. “Jack” Martino, who left us peacefully on Dec. 9, 2024, at the age of 92, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born on July 16, 1932, in Kensington, Pennsylvania, to the late Lawrence and Emma Martino (Frye), John lived a life rich in family, friendship, and creativity.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War, John enlisted on March 17, 1952, and served until his discharge on March 8, 1956, attaining the rank of USN U1. After his military service, he dedicated many years to his career as a pressman in the manufacturing industry, working for E.I. DuPont, where he was known for his commitment and strong work ethic. John’s passions were as diverse as his life experiences. He traveled to 48 states and developed a fervent love for Intarsia woodworking — a skill he honed over the years and shared generously with loved ones. His beautiful creations were not just objects; they were tokens of love, often gifted to those he cherished.
Above all, John was a devoted family man, survived by his children, Lawrence, and spouse, Gail Martino, Michael, and spouse, Lori Martino, Donna, and spouse, Kevin Bixby, and Steven, and spouse, Kim Martino; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel A. Martino (Press).
A celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.ihelpveterans.org/.
