John M. Witmer, 73, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023. He was the husband of Doris F. (Rittle) Witmer, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage.

John was born in Lebanon on Jan. 8, 1950, to the late John N. and Marguerite E. (Witmer) Witmer.

He was a graduate of Annville High School (1967) and Elizabethtown College (1971). He worked for TVC Communications/Wesco as VP of operations and in administration. He attended Palmyra Church of the Brethren. John loved his family; they and Jake, his dog, were very important to him. He also enjoyed trains, reading, the Phillies when they were winning, puns, and practical jokes.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his sons, Michael J. Witmer (Elizabeth) and Eric J. Witmer; granddaughters, Alyssa M. Witmer and Ava L. Witmer; brother-in-law, Richard Schroff; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Schroff.

Services will be private.
