John “Mike” Baker, 55, of Palmyra, PA, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.  Mike was born in Altoona, PA on May 12, 1965.  He is the son of the late Joseph Patrick Baker and Shirley (Weyland) Wyper.

Mike was a 1983 graduate of the Altoona Area High School.  He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Palmyra as a Letter Carrier for over 22 years. He loved his job and his customers all knew him by name.

Mike enjoyed golf, hunting, animals, and traveling.  He was a huge Pittsburgh fan-Penguins, Pirates, and especially the Steelers. He would often say he “bled black and gold.”  Mike was also a big fan of Notre Dame football and his weekends during football season were often spent watching his favorite teams.  He loved his dog, Scout, whom he nicknamed “Woobie” shortly after adopting him 13 years ago. Mike was very proud of his son Brady who was the greatest joy in his life.  Mike will be sorely missed by his family.

Mike is survived by his son, Brady Baker, his ex-wife Eileen (Henry) Baker, both of Hummelstown, PA, sister, Amy Baker, and brother, Russell Baker, both of Altoona, PA as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

To honor Mike’s final wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
