John R. Swisher, 71, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Louise M. (Remlinger) Swisher, who died on September 3, 2011.

Born in Lebanon on May 31, 1951, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Anne (Thompson) Swisher.

John was a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School with the Class of 1969. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Swisher’s Cleaning Co for well over 40 years in Lebanon and surrounding counties. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church in Cleona. John was an active Mason as a member of Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM.

He is survived by daughters Debra A. (Felker) Radina wife of Kim Radina of Saginaw, MI, and Jodi L. Swisher of Jonestown; grandchildren Ryan John Radina, Sean Michael Radina, Kierra Alexis Swisher, Alexandra Nicole Radina, and Kyler Jonathan Swisher; four great-grandchildren; brothers Billy D. Swisher of Myerstown, Carl Swisher of Lebanon, Daniel W. Swisher, III, of Jonestown, and Michael A. Swisher of Jonestown; and sisters Lori D. Eckert of Jonestown and Jayne S. Swisher of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth A. Felker and brothers Donald R. Swisher, James A. Swisher, and Lyle M. Swisher.

John was a light that was hard to contain. His mischievous grin and laughter were simply infectious. He enjoyed his business and being able to bring things back from what seemed like a loss. Taking a trip to the casino to clear his mind, stepping on a golf course to have a moment for himself, fishing with a rod or a magnet to spend time with his brother, driving around on his mower whether the grass needed it or not, playing cards with his little gang, showing up for recitals, plays or musicals, heading to the gun range with his buddy, it all comes down to being with and around his family. The most important thing in his world was “his kids,” as he liked to say.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
