John T. Snavely, 85, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Shultz) Snavely, who preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2010.

Born in Fredericksburg on Nov. 1, 1937, he was the son of the late John A.T. Snavely and Martha (Peiffer) Snavely.

John was a graduate of Lebanon High School with the Class of 1956. He went on to work as a truck driver for Cleaver Brooks. For the last 10 years of his working career, he worked in the custodial department at Tri-Community Elementary School in Highspire. He attended St. Johns United Church of Christ in Jonestown. John was a Mason with Lodge 226. He also enjoyed watching Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra L. Snavely, of Linglestown, Denise Ann Reyes, of Hershey, and Darlene S., wife of Tom Basehore, of Dillsburg; grandchildren, Jonathan, husband of Ashley Ritchie, Garry, husband of Elisabeth Reyes, Andy Reyes, and Liana, wife of Daniel Maxwell; and great-grandchildren, Weston Ritchie, Malina Ritchie, and soon-to-be Huxley Reyes.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jenna Ann Reyes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rte. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. A Masonic service will begin at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, Lebanon.
