On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, John Weaver was welcomed into the arms of his loving Savior. He was born at home on March 15, 1952, to Elmer P. and Emma Zink Weaver in Drumore, Pennsylvania. John was a fisherman by heart and by trade for over 50 years. He loved the sea. He had many occupations over the years, but he always came back to the ocean.

John loved God and was active as an usher at Hobe Sound Bible Church, where he used his Class A license to volunteer as a driver for their bus ministry. He was passionate about making sure that everyone who wanted to come to church at least had the opportunity. In doing so, he played a sort of surrogate grandfather to the kids his bus picked up for church. Ministry had been near to his heart since he was a boy when he first served alongside his parents in ministering.

John also enjoyed participating in men’s breakfasts with his church because he loved to cook and loved to feed people. He was known for his shrimp and fried fish and enjoyed creating new recipes to share. He was also widely known for his sense of humor; he loved to joke with everyone and had truly never met a stranger.

While he loved ministering, cooking, and fishing, his deepest love was for his children and grandchildren. His grin was always the biggest when he was teaching his grandchildren to fish.

He is survived by his former wife, Vilet Weaver, of Stuart, FL; daughters, Heather Weaver NP, of Houston, TX, Bethany, wife of Chad Nauman, of Newkirk, OK, Yvonne Weaver, of Hobe Sound, FL, Dawn, wife of Eric Kahle, of Newkirk, OK, and Savana, wife of Nate Evans, of Lindale, TX; brother, Melvin, husband of Norma Weaver, of Mt. Joy, PA; sisters, Ruth, wife of Ken Mellinger, of Willow Street, PA, Shirley, wife of the late Homer Boll, of Lebanon, PA, and Darlene, wife of the late James Boll, of Flat Gap, KY; along with a legacy of 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with a second great grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Alive Church, 510 Stevens Road, Ephrata, PA. There will be a viewing from 9-11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster. A fellowship meal will be held at the church after the committal service.

Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown, is honored to serve the family.
