John W. Wissinger, 82, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Monday, Dec. 15, 1941, to the late Herbert J. Wissinger and Susannah Wright Wissinger in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from The University of Cincinnati and worked at several companies as an industrial designer before retiring from Thetford Corporation in 2007.

John had a lifelong love for model railroading and was a member of The National Model Railroad Association, from which he earned recognition as a Master Model Railroader. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Kathy, to every convention and conference they could attend.

John also dedicated his time to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, where he served as a deacon. When he wasn’t working on his model railroad or devoting time to his church, John also enjoyed playing pool and socializing at his community’s clubhouse.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Kathleen Creegan Wissinger; children, Gayle Wissinger (Brian See) and Gordon Wissinger (Lisa); siblings, Marilyn Ashbrook and Mildred (Jan) Palermo; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wissinger; and several nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his brother, Alan Wissinger.

Memorial and celebration of life services will be held at the convenience of the family.
