John Wayne Boyer, 80, of Jonestown, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at his home. He was the husband of Gladys Mary (Kaufman) Boyer, of Jonestown. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on April 8.

Born in Lebanon County on Aug. 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Wayne J. and Helen R. (Hummel) Boyer.

John worked for Cornwall Mines until they closed, then went on to work for Bethlehem Steel for 13 years and then for O-Z/Gedney for 22 years. He enjoyed camping, yard sales, flea markets, auctions, and watching wrestling and car racing on TV.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by his children, Janice, wife of Randy Hertzog, of Jonestown, Donna, wife of Tom Shank, of Jonestown, Jeffrey, husband of Darlene Boyer, of Ono, and Thomas, husband of Julie Bergen, of Fredericksburg; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Willard, Barry, and Dennis Boyer; his sisters, Patsy Houck and Jeanie White; his goddaughter, Susan Nace; and his dog, Daisy.

He was predeceased by his sister, Diane Brandt.

There will be no funeral services.
