Joseph C. Zimmerman, 75, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Harrisburg. He was the husband of Joann Fritz Zimmerman. They celebrated 53 years of marriage this past July 10.
Born in Mt. Aetna on May 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Chester and Virginia (Moyer) Zimmerman.
Joe graduated from Tulpehocken School District with the class of 1968. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1970, Millersville University in 1974, and Villanova University in 1978. He taught in Cornwall School District, Grace Christian School, Donegal School District, and the Baltimore City School District. He served as a teacher and principal in those schools.
Joe was a member of the 121st Transportation Company from 1970-1976. He was an Assistant Boy Scout Leader while his sons were in the Boy Scouts. He was a member of Hershey Free Church and served as a member of the Annville-Cleona School Board from 2009 until 2019.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jason Zimmerman, and his wife, Brandy (Beaver), of Elliottsburg, and Jesse Zimmerman, and his wife, Angela (Batz), of Fort Worth, Texas; and grandchildren, Clarissa, Austen, Trystan, Madison, and Dillon. Joe is also survived by his brother, Philip, of Lebanon.
Joe’s pride and joy was his family. He and Joann traveled far and wide to take part in the activities of their sons and grandchildren. God always came first until Parkinson’s Disease took over. Joe will be missed.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare, and Graine Hospice from Berks County.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
