Joseph ‘Ed’ Swank, 70, of Annville passed away with his loving family by his side on September 14, 2021.

Born July 10, 1951, in Somerset PA, he was the son of the late Robert Jay and Dora F. (Kinsinger) Swank.

Surviving are his wife, Diane Alwine Swank of 48 years and two sons, Christopher and Julie Newton, of Maryland and Mike and wife Rachel, of Lebanon, and three granddaughters including Addison Swank, Annika Swank, and Quinn Swank. Surviving also are four sisters Shirley and husband Bob Ankney, of Blairsville PA, Donna Stanczyk, of Somerset PA, Debra Yoder, of Monroeville PA, Nancy Reininger, of Summerhill PA and brother-in-law Terry and wife Mary Alwine and sister-in-law Karen Alwine, both of Lebanon and many nieces and nephews.

He was a 1969 graduate of the Somerset Area High School Somerset, PA and worked at Pennsylvania American Water Co. Hershey, PA until 1999 when he retired following a stroke. He was a member of the Annville Church of the Brethren where he had served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and on many different commissions. He always enjoyed talking with children and enjoyed helping with the Kidz Klub camp every summer. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He always enjoyed mowing the lawn on his tractor and taking sightseeing excursions after he completed his work. He loved going camping and extending a welcome greeting to everyone with whom he crossed paths.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the South Annville Pavilion 739 Church Road Lebanon, PA 17042 on September 25, at 3:30 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. His memorial service will be live-streamed at www.annvillecob.org/swank.
