Joyce A. Twigg (nee McKinney) departed this life on Oct. 7, 2024, at the age of 97.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1927, to Harry and Mamie McKinney.

Joyce “Shorty” was a 1944 graduate of Lebanon High School, where she participated in numerous activities. One of those activities raised over $10,000 to help offset the cost of WWII. She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as the Worthy Matron from 1959-1960. She was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Joyce’s love for helping others led her to spend more than 20 years volunteering at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Joyce was a firm believer in James 2:17.

Joyce worked as a telephone operator at Fort Indiantown Gap prior to working for Met-Ed in Lebanon. Her position at Met-Ed was transferred to Three Mile Island on March 27, 1979, one day after the infamous TMI accident. After retirement, Joyce acted as Met-Ed’s Retired Employees Recreation Committee’s Treasurer.

Joyce is survived by her nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rodger Twigg, and her husband, James Twigg.

Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown.
