Joyce Mary Yingst passed away peacefully to eternal life and salvation on September 21, 2021, at Stoneridge Towne Centre.
She was born in Myerstown on December 13, 1926, to Ammon and Edna Muth. She was raised in Myerstown and graduated from Myerstown High School. She married Aldus Yingst Jr. in 1945. Joyce and Aldus were married 64 years until Aldus preceded her in death in 2009. Joyce lived an active life and had a smile for everyone she met. She was a homemaker and later she was elected to the office of City Controller in which she served for 8 years until her retirement.
Joyce was a member of St. James Luthern Church where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship Group and the Couples Fellowship Organization. She was also a member of the Cedars Camping Club, Cleona Senior Center, Friendship Fire Company Ladies Auxillary group, the Retired Steel Workers Club, and many Bible study groups. She also started the Free Meal Program in Lebanon at St James Luthern Church after the Bethlehem Steel Foundry closed. Later on, it was taken over by Christian Ministries. She loved her family and they were very special to her. She had many friends and family gatherings at her home over the years. She and Aldus loved camping and traveled many places with their travel trailer. Her favorite areas were Florida and the Indian River in Delaware.
She is survived by 2 children, Sharon Fleischer (Yingst) and her husband William from Lebanon and Jeffrey and his wife Kathy from Lebanon. She has 5 Grandchildren, William Fleischer and his wife Jeneen, Andrew Fleischer and his wife Alisha, Michael Yingst and his wife Beth, Jeffrey Yingst and his wife Gabriella, and Kipenie Yingst. Also 6 Great Grandchildren, Max and Miles Fleischer, Rowan and Hadley Fleischer, Parker and Emberly Yingst.
A Funeral Service will be held in Faith Baptist Church 220 S. 22nd St, Lebanon, PA, 17042 on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Frieden’s Memorial Park, Myerstown. Contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to Faith Baptist Church. The Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. www.rohlandfh.com
