Junior R. “Rex” Rexrode, 92, passed away on Sept. 12, 2025, in Lebanon, PA.
Junior Rexrode was born on Oct. 30, 1932, in Grantville, PA, to Arthur and Phoebe Rexrode. After high school, he had a career in various warehouse positions for the Hershey Food Corporation. He proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955. Junior married Edith P. Rexrode, and the couple had six children: Evajane, LaRue, Karen, Rachel, Phyllis, and Clyde.
Junior was a passionate volunteer. He was formerly active with the South Lebanon Lions Club. He also assisted with administrative functions, including treasury work at Avon Zion United Methodist Church during its active years, and was a member of the choir.
Junior, or “Rex” as he was known, enjoyed keeping his mind sharp with Sudoku, cryptograms, and jigsaw puzzles. He also loved the outdoors, and he continued to take fishing trips well into his golden years. An avid sports fan, Junior’s top teams included the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies, respectively.
Junior was always happy to meet new people, and he kept “Kisses” in his pocket for any ladies he encountered. Above all else, Junior will be remembered for his generosity. He had a burden on his heart for feeding the hungry with a free meals ministry.
Junior is survived by his children, Evajane Weaver, LaRue Chubb, Rachel Hlaverty, Phyllis Lebo, and Clyde (Ardie) Rexrode; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, and he goes forth in glory to join her now. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Karen (Gary) Vragovich.
The service for Mr. Junior Rexrode will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Christman’s Funeral Home Inc., with a viewing to start at the funeral home at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
