Kathryn Hope Saam, 85, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Joseph P. Saam. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2024.
Born in Martic Township, Lancaster County, on May 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Kathryn E. (Sourbeer) Weaver.
Kathryn graduated from Penn Manor High School with the Class of 1956. Kathryn went on to get her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) degree at Lebanon County Career and Technology Center and worked as the school nurse for Lebanon Elementary and LCCTC, as a Labor and Delivery nurse at the Hyman S. Caplan Pavilion, a Clinical Advisor for adult education and secondary education at LCCTC, and a Safety Director and Industrial Nurse for Pennfield Farms, where she was active with Lebanon County United Way. Kathryn also was an active member of the Mrs. Jaycees of Lebanon. She was the owner of Azu-pleez Flowers and an avid horsewoman. Hope was the leader and advisor of the Fredericksburg Saddle Lites 4-H horse club. She was also active with carriage pleasure driving with her beloved horse ‘Jasper’ and placed first in many shows. She enjoyed driving enduro race cars at Linda’s Speedway. She and her husband enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Charity Ann, wife of David C. Kreiser, of South Lebanon, and Sharon L., wife of Robert Jones, of Ocala, FL; stepson, Douglas P., husband of Terry Saam, of San Antonia, TX; grandchildren, Paige Steiner, Ryan Saam, and Lindsay Jones; brother, David Weaver, of OR; and sister, Helen Book, of Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel W. Weaver Jr.
