Kim Louise (Wagner) Koury, 60, entered eternal rest on May 25, 2025, at her home in Douglassville, PA, surrounded by her loving family. She learned she had metastatic breast cancer in 2020, and she became determined to live every day as if it could be her last.
Kim was born on July 10, 1964, in Lebanon, PA, to Richard L. Wagner and Josephine (Kiscadden) Wagner. She graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1982 and from Central Penn College in 1984, where she studied travel.
In 1991, while visiting a friend several miles from home, fate intervened to change her life forever. A random encounter at a local store is where she would meet her future husband, Joseph D. Koury Jr., of Pottsville, PA, son of Joseph D. Koury Sr. and Margaret A. (Devitt) Koury, of Pottsville. The two began dating soon after and would later marry on April 30, 1994.
Kim always had a special place in her heart for animals and children, particularly those who couldn’t care for themselves. She would let you know if she thought you were being insensitive to others. Kim loved to travel, and as manager of Liberty Travel’s Reading office, it afforded her the opportunity to do so frequently, especially to the Caribbean islands. She left the travel industry in 1997 upon the birth of her beloved daughter, Jordan R. Koury.
In 2004, Kim became a special education one-on-one aide in the Daniel Boone Area School District, a role she cherished. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Douglassville, and she would end her career at their Child Development Center as a daycare aide, retiring in 2018. She loved annual family vacations in Ocean City, NJ, as well as regular visits to NYC to see a Broadway show. In recent years, she advocated for women’s rights, particularly women’s health rights.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Joseph, and daughter, Jordan Koury, both of Douglassville, PA; sister, Jennifer (Bryan) Wellman, of Harrisburg; brothers-in-law, Daniel J. (Sandra) Koury, of Pine Grove, PA, and Victor J. (Stacy) Koury, of Hamburg, PA; sister-in-law, Lorraine J. Koury (Mike Naydock), of Pottsville, PA; nieces and nephews, Natalie (Koury) (Jack) Ribble, of Media, PA, Daniel Koury (Samantha Young), of Pottsville, and Emma and Gibson Koury, of Hamburg; great-niece, Ellie Grace Ribble; and her beloved kitties, Oliver and Jane.
Kim was preceded in death by both parents; both parental in-laws; and her son, Harry Koury, who was delivered prematurely, and Dave Naydock.
Kim was loved by many, and her true family extended to the many close, lasting friendships she developed wherever she found herself in life. It is those friendships and family that she truly found pleasure in.
