Larry B. Garnet, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at the Hospice Unit of Lebanon VA Hospital.
Larry lived a life rich with passion, kindness, and curiosity. He enjoyed many activities throughout his years, from playing softball—retiring with an impressive .503 batting average—to fishing, golfing with friends, and taking long walks, especially during the crisp beauty of the fall season.
A lover of animals, Larry cherished posters featuring them—especially those with children—and gave generously to various charities. He was a kind and gentle soul who believed deeply in helping others and making a difference in the world.
Sports were a lifelong joy for Larry, and he was an avid fan of both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. His hobbies reflected his wide-ranging interests: collecting old-time rock and roll music, coins, stamps, baseball and sports cards, pins, model cars, figurines, and books, which he read cover to cover. Among his most treasured possessions was his beautiful train collection and elaborate train set-up, complete with all the trimmings, which he proudly shared with friends and visitors.
Larry was equally proud of his academic achievements, holding a degree in psychology and education. He dedicated many years as a well-known substitute teacher in all Lebanon County schools, touching countless lives with his patience, humor, and dedication to learning.
Larry is survived by his sister; brother; nephew; and nieces. In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. Kreamer Funeral Home in Annville will be in charge of arrangements.
Larry’s life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures, the value of generosity, and the beauty of sharing one’s passions with others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
