Larry Edward Whitman Jr., 65, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his home in the early morning on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025.
Born on May 28, 1959, in Lebanon, son of Larry E. Whitman Sr. and Cynthia “Kay” Whitman (formerly Habecker).
He was married to Karen Whitman (Carpenter) for 32 years. Larry worked as a mason, working for multiple contractors, as well as being self-employed for most of his life. He loved masonry with a passion, especially when he had the opportunity to lay natural stone. One of his proudest jobs to be a part of was relocating and rebuilding the Star Barn in Elizabethtown at Stone Gables Estate with the Haldeman Brothers masonry group. He loved history, especially the Civil War and Gettysburg. He was often remembered for his love of music as well, and for playing electric guitar in various bands throughout the years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen Whitman (Carpenter), of Honolulu, Hawaii; son, Zach Kolovani, of Jonestown; son, Ian Whitman, and wife, Lauren Whitman (Wickman), of Annville; daughter, Sarah Himpsl (Whitman), and husband, Jordan Himpsl, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and daughter, Hannah Whitman, of Spring City, PA. He was blessed with five granddaughters: Isabella, Victoria, and Elizabeth Whitman (Ian and Lauren), as well as Leah and Ellie Mae Himpsl (Sarah and Jordan). Also surviving Larry are his sister, Crystal Whitman, of Delaware; brother, Gary, and wife, Bev Whitman, of Cleona; and many other surviving extended family members and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents Larry (Sr.) and Cynthia Whitman.
There will be a celebration of life ceremony at Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church in Jonestown on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, open to family and friends from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and a service starting at 11 a.m.
