Leroy E. Hower, 79, of Mt. Aetna, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at his residence. He was the husband of Irene Helen (Brown) Hower, to whom he would have been married eight years on June 13, 2021, and have been together for 33 years.
Born in Mt. Aetna, PA on Feb. 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Leroy and Florence Hower. Leroy was employed as a truck driver at Eagle Chemical, Reading, for over 40 years. He was a member of the Mt. Aetna Fire Co., Goodwill Fire Co., Bethel Social Club, Womelsdorf Rod, and Gun Club, and the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club. Leroy enjoyed golfing and was a NASCAR and Steelers fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Lisa Hunter, fiancee of Jeff, Jody Perrotta, Sharon Kuhn, and Julie, wife of Steve Kirby, Sr., sons, Michael Hower, Leroy, husband of Lara Hower, 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sister, Carri Strausser, brothers, Charles Hower, Robert Hower, sister-in-law, Faye Hower, and several nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Ortiz, and brother, Herman Hower.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Church, 5 E. Mill St., Mt. Aetna. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. at the adjoining church cemetery.
