In loving memory of Lewis Benjamin Alston.
Lewis went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023. Born in Glassboro, NJ, on May 23, 1951, he lived in Lancaster, PA, most of his life before moving to Ocala, FL, in 2016. Lewis served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a recipient of the Combat Purple Heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Lorraine Brown Alston; brother, Arvin Alston; sisters, Lorraine Alston, June Green, and Loretta Rohrer; four children, Christine Alston, Lewis Alston, Jeremy Alston, and Brandon Alston; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Alston; mother, Odetta Richardson Alston; sisters, Cinderella Alston and Gertrude Alston; brother, Paul Alston; and grandson, Anthony (Tony) Ortiz.
Lewis was currently active in the Marion County, Florida Honor Guard, and the World Veteran’s Club. While in Lancaster, he was part of the Red Rose Veteran’s Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League of Lancaster. He could always be found volunteering his help to veterans and their families in the community, as well as volunteering as a crossing guard in Lancaster City. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, was an avid scuba diver, and loved spending quality time with his family and friends.
Lewis’ viewing will be at Christman’s Funeral Home in Lebanon, PA, at 11 a.m., followed by his interment at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion County Florida Honor Guard or the Red Rose Veteran’s Honor Guard in Lewis’ name.
