Linda M. Dechert, 83, of Jonestown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Joe S. Dechert.

Born in Lebanon on Jan. 17, 1942, Linda was the daughter of the late Dorothy Snavely. For many years, she owned and operated her own daycare center. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, the Jonestown American Legion, and the Jonestown Perseverance.

Linda is survived by her sons, Scott A. (Toni) Smith, of Lebanon, Kenneth J. (Marlene) Dechert, of Fredericksburg, Daniel R. (Teresa) Dechert, of Lebanon, and Joel R. (Khrista) Dechert, of Annville; brother, Delmer Kessler Jr., of Lebanon; sisters, Paula Sattazahn, of Lebanon, and Patricia Brandt, of Jonestown; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lori Kline and Susan.

A memorial service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. Visitation with the family will begin at 8 a.m. until the start of the service. Inurnment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
