Lloyd A. Beare Sr., 83, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Shirley R. (Weaber) Beare. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January.

Born in Lebanon on Oct. 2, 1939, he was the son of the late Ivan G. and Minerva (Zellers) Beare Sr.

He graduated from Annville High School with the Class of 1957. He then enlisted in the Navy, where he served for 22 years as an electronics technician until he retired. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Newburg, a member of Jonestown Legion 883, V.F.W. Post 6070, Newville Fish & Game Club, a lifetime member of the DAV and NRA, and a 50-year Free Mason with the Hackenburg Mount Moriah Lodge 19. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, riding horses, living on the farm, riding his Kubota 4×4, reloading ammunition, boating, and camping.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Bonita J. Yohn, of Jonestown; grandchildren, Christopher Yohn and Valerie Yohn; great-granddaughter, Sophia Yohn; and siblings, Kenneth Beare, Ivan Beare Jr., Norman Beare, and Katherine Saul.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd A. Beare Jr.; and his brothers, Macklyn and Rodger Beare.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
