Lois A. Rank, 89, of Jonestown, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
Born in Lebanon on April 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Lola Robertson Dissinger.
Lois was the former owner and operator of the E-Bar-L Boarding and Riding Stable in Ono. She retired former G.S.H. in 1995, where she worked with the Home Health Aide Agency. She was a member of the American Legion Post #910, the Lebanon Valley Motorcycle Club, the Navy Club, Ship 91, a life member of the Lebanon FOP Lodge #42, Friends of Camp Bashore, and a member of the Girl Scouts of America Troop 35 in Hebron. It was her Girl Scout Troop who was the first to camp at Camp Bashore. She also served as a den mother for the Cub Scout Pack 22 in Ono. Lois was a writer, songwriter, poet, gardener, crafter, and woodworker, especially making her walking sticks. She enjoyed crocheting, photography, cooking, baking, and her flowers. She also enjoyed her time singing in a country band, hanging out with her Hebron Lunch Bunch and her friends at Lebanon, PA, over 40 gatherings. Lois will be remembered for her love of people and her animals. Her house always had a revolving door filled with her many friends and family.
She is survived by her son, James E., and his wife, Greta Rank, of Jonestown; and seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia A. Beck, brother, Harry E. Dissinger, and sisters, Mildred E. Rank and Norma J. Mehler, and her longtime companion, Ed Hummel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
