Lucille M. “Nan” Behney, 99, passed away on Jan. 30, 2026, in Lebanon, PA.
Lucille was born on Nov. 26, 1926, in Lebanon, PA, to Robert and Nettie Lineaweaver. Lucille enjoyed a long career in the garment industry as a seamstress. Lucille married Chester A. Behney Sr. in 1946, and they remained a loving couple until Chester’s death on Jan. 30, 1987. Her surviving family is blessed to know that Lucille has joined Chester in Heaven, 39 years later to the day.
Lucille was a faithful member of the former Avon United Methodist Church. She had a passion for traveling. Along with her husband, she visited most of the U.S., including Hawaii. She also traveled to Canada and throughout Europe, with Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy being favorite places. Lucille also had a great fondness for the beach. In her later years, as her vision failed, family members would call her when they traveled to the beach. Lucille was delighted just to hear the ocean. She enjoyed crocheting and making doll clothes for her granddaughters. Her children fondly remember Lucille and Chester playing pinochle most Saturday nights with other couples.
Lucille is survived by children, Chester A. (Tina) Behney Jr. and Priscilla Rutter; grandchildren, Rebecca (Darren) Fields, Megan (Scott) Marshall, Danielle (John) Fritz, Matthew (Elizabeth) Behney, and Stephanie (Jason) Weaver; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance Henry; grandson, Thomas Staff; and siblings: sister, Dorothy Starner, and brothers, Nathan, Harold, David, Mahlon, Wilson, and James Lineaweaver.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lucille’s name to the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.
