Margaret D. Broussard, 81, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dr. James H. Broussard, who passed away in 2020.
Margaret was born in Wilmington, DE, on Dec. 10, 1942, to the late Cyrus Lawrence and Camilla (Downing) Day.
She attended Tower Hill School and went to Harvard College, where she received her undergraduate degree and met her future husband, Jim. They both studied at Duke, where she earned her Master of Arts in teaching in 1968. As Jim pursued his teaching career, they lived in New York, Texas, Indiana, and Delaware, eventually settling in Annville, Pennsylvania.
In addition to managing several rental properties, she was active in the local community by serving in various roles of leadership in the Lebanon County Council of Republican Women, the Annville Forum, the Lebanon County Republican Committee — where she was still a member of the Chairman’s Club, and, more recently, the Literary Classics Book Group. She also served as a committee person for the Lebanon County Republicans for many years. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, Pennsylvania Society (Lancaster-Dauphin-York Committee), and the Lebanon Country Club, and attended Lebanon Valley Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed bridge and trivia and spent many hours working on the family genealogy. Margaret’s quick wit, outgoing personality, and good sense of humor were appreciated by many, and she will be deeply missed.
Margaret is survived by her son, David H. Broussard (Sophie), of Marietta, GA; and her grandchildren, Elsa Rose and Samuel.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin Day.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m., with refreshments to follow. The service will be held at the Annville United Methodist Church, at 1 N. College Ave., Annville, PA 17003.
In lieu of flowers, we would encourage donations to her church, the Lebanon Valley Presbyterian Church (https://lebanonvalleypca.com/), which she loved and attended regularly.
