Margaret E. “Peggy” Tobias nee Dawson, 94, of Jonestown, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Eugene R. “Mash” Tobias for 73 years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2019.
Born in Albemarle County, VA, on Feb. 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Norene T. (Bugg) Dawson. She graduated from Jonestown High School with the Class of 1944. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Jonestown. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Release Time religious education at her church for many years. Peggy worked for the Lebanon School District for 23 years in the library. She was a baker and made the best brownies. Peggy liked watching sports on TV, but her favorite pastime was reading books as she was an avid reader. She enjoyed sending cards and visiting shut-ins, and she especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Peggy is survived by daughters, Donna J. (Haag) Breidegam, and Patti M., wife of John Livering, both of Palmyra; granddaughters, Denise, wife of Kim Kleinfelter, Shelli Gilara-Jones, and husband, Doug, and Jessica, wife of Bryan Yohn; and great-grandchildren Tyler Haag, Ava Lynn Yohn, and Cody Lee Yohn. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Tobias Haag, sisters, Ethel Mundell, Joy Newmaster, and Norene (Doll) Strickler, and brothers, Albert, Richard, and Randolph Dawson.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
