Margaretta E. Albert, 96, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Spang Crest Manor. She was the wife of the late Calvin R. Albert, whom she married in December 1949, and with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Margaretta was born in Lebanon on June 3, 1927, to the late William Knox and Bessie (Sheetz) Bailey.

She was a 1945 graduate of Lebanon High School and a 1949 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She retired from the Cornwall Lebanon School District, where she taught high school English for more than 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Tabor United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and directed church plays. She was a devoted educator and made a significant difference in many people’s lives over the years. She was an avid reader, often reading several books a week, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, John D., and wife, Deborah Moyer Albert, of Madison, Alabama; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edwin and William Bailey.

A public viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
