Marian Alice Sprecher Foltz, 98, formerly of Kindred Place at Annville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 23, 2024, in Burlington, North Carolina, where she resided.

Marian was born the oldest child of Joseph H. Sprecher and Esther M. Fegan Sprecher in West Cornwall Township, Lebanon, on Sept. 19, 1926.

She was a 1944 graduate of Lebanon High School and worked for her father at Sprecher’s Diner for 10 years. Marian married Thomas B. Foltz on April 16, 1949, and together, they welcomed three children, Thomas, Timothy, and Tamah. Marian and Tom were married for 65 years until his death in 2014. In addition to taking excellent care of her home and family, Marian volunteered at Cleona Elementary School and the Annville Free Library and was a Cub Scout leader and Sunday School teacher for years. Marian proudly supported her husband in his term as Mayor of Cleona, a community they called home for 60 years. She, along with her husband and other community members, helped co-write the History of Cleona 1883-1995. Marian and Tom were active members of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Annville, where she served as president of WELCA for many years. Marian was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 115.

Above all, Marian loved her family and treasured time spent together. Beyond that, she loved thrifting, sunbathing, wine, cold beer, crispy wings with Old Bay, a well-organized anything, candles, incense, Bath and Body Works, gospel music, and Penn State Football. If she lost her wineglass during a party, she would pick up the glass with the most wine in it and claim it as her own. She enjoyed her many friends at Kindred Place and Friday night chicken foot games. Her life in North Carolina was highlighted by the time spent at Twin Lakes Memory Care Day Program. Marian was sharp, funny, and the life of any party; her absence is already felt.

Preceding Marian in death are her beloved husband, Thomas Foltz; parents, Joseph and Esther Sprecher; brother, Harold Sprecher; sisters, Fern Sprecher and Erma Brommer; son, Timothy Foltz; and granddaughter Jessica Foltz’s fiancé, Michael Saperstein.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her sister, June Duncan, of Stone Harbor, NJ; children, Thomas Foltz (Miriam), of Philadelphia, PA, Tamah Wicke (James), of Burlington, NC, Roberta Oberdick, of Red Lion, PA, and Simone De Oliveira Foltz, of Brazil; grandchildren, Katie Wicke LaPlante (Reed), Benjamin Foltz (Elizabeth), Jessica Foltz, Janelle Simon (Mike), and Steven Foltz (Jackie); great-grandchildren, Avery, Lilly, and Asher LaPlante, Miles, Maxwell, Micah, and Marcus Foltz, Mollie Foltz, and baby Simon (due January 2025); and many family members and friends.

Services will be at the convenience of the family in spring 2025, and she will be interred at Indiantown Gap with her husband.
