Marilyn Jean Marshall passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. Marilyn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Emory William W. Sparrow and Katherine Rothermal.
As a 60 year resident of Annville, Pennsylvania, Marilyn was a loving mother of three and a grandma of four. Marilyn was a graduate of Manheim Township High School, Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing, and Millersville University.
Marilyn worked in the health care industry for over 43 years and her courageous passion to help others left a legacy of a community leader, committed to helping those in need. She began her career as a nurse at Lancaster General Hospital, where she worked for over 11 years. She continued her calling to care with The Lebanon Family and Children’s Service as a Homemaker Agent. Marilyn then moved to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon Pennsylvania, where she spent over 30 years creating an environment of caring and support. She developed the Social Work Department at the Good Samaritan Hospital and was instrumental in the development of the hospital’s Cancer Care Center, Hospice Program, and Crisis Intervention, critical programs that, to this day, provide important resources helping the people of Lebanon County.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel C. Marshall, Jr. Her survivors include her children, Catherine Helm, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, Scott (Corinth) Marshall, of Annville, PA, and Jennifer (Paul) Asman, of Roswell, GA. Marilyn has four grandchildren, Travis Helm, Eric Helm, Samuel Asman, and Katherine Asman.
