Marion H. Hoops, 97, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Born June 9, 1924 in Oakland, California, she was a daughter to the late Charles Calvin and Katherine (Dingley) Herriott. Â She was the widow of Walter T. Hoops since December 2017 and also preceded in death by brother, Charles Calvin Herriott and sister Georgia Engberg.
Marion graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkley. She and her husband served as missionaries in Argentina and since retirement were members of Hershey Free Church where they were active in ministries with international visitors.
Surviving are the children she dearly loved: Nancy, wife of Kenneth Miller, of Palmyra, Timothy, husband of Deborah Hoops, of Philadelphia, Walter “Terry,” husband of Patricia Hoops, of Sherman, Texas, Sandra Hoops, of Annville, and Elizabeth, wife of Lorenzo Meson, of Lebanon; sister Francis Peterson, of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; and 28 great grandchildren. Marion loved the Lord, was dedicated to her husband, loved to serve (as so many in her life can attest), loved her family, and loved life.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown. Private interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hershey Christian Academy, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
