Marlin R. Umberger, 80, of Myerstown, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at StoneRidge Towne Center. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Sattesahn) Umberger, of Myerstown. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 16.
Born in Pottsville on Aug. 8, 1944, he was the son of the late Raymond W. and Verna V. (Kramer) Umberger.
Marlin graduated from Pine Grove High School with the Class of 1962. He farmed in his early years and went on to open a successful recycling business that he owned and operated for many years. Marlin was a member of the Lebanon God’s Missionary Church and the Ono Camp.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Louis, husband of Janet Hunkapiller, of Alvordton, OH, Melodie, wife of Seth Yates, of Brimhall, NM, and Diane, wife of Jeff Clarke, of Lebanon; grandchildren, David Clarke, Jana, wife of Rodney Reed, Jordan, husband of Megan Hunkapiller, Marlin Yates, Jacinda Clarke, wife of Miguel Cabrera, Trent Hunkapiller, Natasha, and Steven Clarke; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth, wife of Mervin Hummel, and Arlene, wife of Robert Beachel.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Mark R., Daniel A., and Michael R. Umberger; and daughter, Debra L. Umberger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Lebanon God’s Missionary Church, 2127 Hill St., Lebanon, PA 17046. There will be a viewing on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the church and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Pine Grove.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marlin’s memory may be made to his church.
