Mary Ann Thompson, 98, of Lebanon, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the home of her granddaughter and husband, Dr. Richard, and Mrs. Kori Snyder of Villanova, PA, in whose loving care she spent her last years. She was the wife of the late Leonard J. Thompson, who died in December of 1998 after 54 years of marriage.
Born in Lebanon on January 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Ann M. (Hughes) Hummel.
Mary Ann was retired as the office manager of the family insurance agency. She was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School and was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marianne L. Thompson, and partner, David C. Anderson, and two sons, Leonard H. Thompson and Theodore W., husband of Dawn M. Thompson; eight grandchildren – Kimberly A. Zellers; Kori A. Snyder; Tara N. Byrne; Leonard H. Thompson, Jr.; Jeffrey M. Thompson; Theodore W. Thompson, Jr.; Timothy N. Thompson; and Tracey E. Torres; sixteen great-grandchildren – Nigel Herr; Jordan Snyder; Reagan Snyder; Graydon Byrne; Finley Byrne; Kateri Thompson; Quinn Thompson; Dakota Thompson; Lincoln Thompson; Grace Thompson; Carter Thompson; Cole Thompson; Connor Thompson; Darrin Thompson; and Marissa Deitzler; two nieces – Kelly Driscoll and Margaret Hummel; three nephews – Robert Hummel, Sr.; John Hummel; and David Hummel; and her sister-in-law, Setsuko A. Hummel.
She was preceded in death by two brothers – Hugh E. Hummel and Walter L. Hummel, Jr.; a sister, Kathleen L. Quinn; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Thompson; a great-granddaughter – Kali Deitzler; two nieces – Rita Lahr and Maureen Quinn; a nephew – James Hummel; sister-in-law, Mary T. Hummel; brother-in-law, Thomas V. Quinn; and four cousins – E. Adelene (Stains) O’Donnell, William F. O’Donnell, James P. O’Donnell, and Mary Jane (Stains) Daullary.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 26th at St. Mary’s Church, 2 North 8th Street, Lebanon, PA. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church at the address listed above.
