Mary Ellen Hackman, formerly of Ephrata, passed peacefully at Manor Care, Lebanon, on May 7, 2021, after a long illness.

She was born in Richmond, VA on July 11, 1931, and is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Gladys Cates, her two sisters, Margaret McLane and Peggy Kelly, and her loving husband, Carl E. Hackman. She is survived by her four children, Frank Majeske and his wife, Katie, Dianna Majeske-Mellers and her husband John, Sandra Miller and her husband, Jim, and Bradley Hackman and his wife, Tammy, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She had a successful and rewarding career as an insurance adjuster until her retirement from Loomis Insurance Agency in Reading. After her retirement, she was active in her community center and enjoyed visiting family and friends and taking care of her husband Carl, when his health was failing. She was also a part time driver for the Amish and became friends with many of her customers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be dearly missed. She is now enjoying her new life with Jesus and her loved ones.
